More About Captain Pete
Pete’s boating experience began in 1974, at age 4, when his family purchased their first boat. At the time, Captain Pete lived in Massachusetts and has fond memories of family time on the Connecticut River, playing at the sandbar, and feeding the wildlife on the riverbank. Each summer Pete and his family vacationed in the Adirondack Mountains and enjoyed the freshwater lakes – swimming, boating, water skiing and playing beach volleyball.

Some of the captain’s most fun memories originated from his time spent on the downtown Toledo docks for “Party in the Park” concerts while attending the University of Toledo. During that time, Pete also served in the US Coast Guard Reserves. To say boating has always been in his blood is an understatement.

Pete now resides in Northwest Ohio with his family and still enjoys spending time boating on the Maumee River and Lake Erie. He is happy to see concerts returning to the downtown outdoor area and still enjoys water sports with his children. Most of Pete’s boating years have been on the Maumee River and Lake Erie. He believes Toledo is such a different city by water and serves as an immediate source of relaxation.

Captain Pete’s navigational experience is not limited to just Lake Erie, however. In 1987 armed with a compass, charts, dividers, and parallels, he and some family members set off for a 9-day vacation adventure. At that time, there were no GPS or electronic navigational tools. They navigated north across Lake Erie, the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, the St. Clair River, and then across Lake Huron up the Canadian side to Georgian Bay. Pete knows it is a true test of faith when you travel several hours with no land in sight following a compass, relying on time and speed to arrive at a destination safely. Pete is proud that he witnessed water-only accessible wonders on the Georgian Bay, North Channel, and Baie Fine (where the secluded Evinrude’s cottage is located) with his father. He vividly recalls locals asking how long it took to trailer their boat to their area. Proudly, Captain Pete and his father stated, they piloted their way there.

Pete officially earned his captain’s license in 2023 and is looking forward to sharing the relaxing and fun adventures of the water with his passengers.
